Wind Animation
So, I’m working on a little film where I’m looking to make some text disperse and fly off the screen as if it has been blown by the wind. I’m also looking to do the same thing with a character (in photo form) that has been cut out. I’ve experimented with a few things, but nothing has looked very good. And, I kind of want it to look reallly good, because the entire film hinges on the wind. Really, I’m not sure if After Effects is the right program to do this with, or if there’s a plug-in out there that will just make it look beautiful. I’m up for hearing what other people have to think.
Any body have suggestions?

I always start with Shatter when I need anything that resembles a realword physical illusion. Getting stuff to blow away is ridiculously complex if your needs for reality are greater than AE can deliver. There are several text animation presets that can be run backwards that will simulate wind. However, Shatter will actually assign different reaction masses and inertia to differently sized objects.
