I am an extreme novice and need some help please. This is the set up I have a XDCam, J-10, UVW-1800, HR Trintron, also Final Cut Studio 2 and MacPro G8. My problem is I did not get a operational manual for the UVW-1800 and have never hooked up any machine of this type, now I got FCS2 to recognize the XDCAM and the J-10, but I have to be able to dub from the J-10 to the UVW-1800 hence my problem I see the bars moving but the UVW will not record this is how I have the settings on (UVW) Local, LTC, Y-RB, TC INT, Character off, the screen says “NO REF” can anyone please help. Thanks

If you are using Y-R,B you must be using the Component Output from your source into the 1800’s component inputs.

In addition, to get REFERENCE SYNC to the 1800…

Hook the Composite Video OUTPUT from your source,
into the REFERENCE Input on the 1800. It will sync to that just fine.
Make sure to turn the 75 ohm (Reference) termination ON for this setup.

If your source does not have a Composite Video output, LOOP the Y cable from the component output into the REFERENCE input jack on the 1800 and then send the looping (bridging) output (from the REFERENCE) into the Y input, as well.
Make sure to turn the 75 ohm (Reference) termination OFF for this setup.
