video screen recorder in after effects?
Posted by Richard Altman on November 10, 2008 at 3:49 amYes hello,
I was wondering what is the best possible way to get the highest quality screen recording on a MAC, is there a way to do this in After Effects?
thanks in advance.

November 10, 2008 at 6:03 pm“best possible” is almost meaningless. What’s your intended workflow and release medium? Capturing and rendering the raw pixels off of a 30″ Cinema display if you’re releasing on 320×240 wmv is silly.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

November 11, 2008 at 2:11 amIt sounds like what you’re looking for is screen recording software.
On a mac there are two main applications that I know of: Ambrosia Software’s Snapz Pro X, and Shiny White Box’s iShowU. Personally, I use iShowU, but in fairness I haven’t played much with Snapz Pro X.
On a PC, the most popular app I’m aware of is Techsmith’s Camtasia Studio.

November 12, 2008 at 8:17 pmthanks everyone, even the pointless one,
in the example i’m thinking of, it seemed that an extrememly high quality capture of video activity was used on the mac, the most striking was the f12 widgets, perfect looking.
i’ll try those ones…………you mentioned
