When and where to convert interlaced footage to progressive?
I have some XDCAM footage that I got from a production facility, and it’s 30i. I want to put it into a 720:30p Premiere project, and then link that into aftereffects to do some text and effects. Should I let Premiere do the interperetation by itself, or do I have to convert this footage first?
I don’t have a piece of software that will convert the XDCAM files properly, and they’re difficult to edit in Premiere because I didn’t copy the file structure over like you’re supposed to (haven’t worked with this type of footage yet, so I didn’t know any better.) I do have all of the audio tracks and XML files and such, but the only way I’ve found to convert it is to bring the video file and two audio files over into Premiere and then render it out into another format.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
