    Hello compression artists,

I have a client that wants uncompressed files for flash compression to be used in an on-line learning environment. Most of the video is talking heads shot in DV widescreen. My 20 second export out of FCP was 550MB at around 230MB/second, 8 bit uncompressed. I don’t know if we are really gaining anything using such high data rates at 720×486 when this is going down to flash anyway. I know garbage in,garbage out but this seems a little excessive.

What do you folks use when exporting for Flash video?

    Thanks all,
    Jim

You could just export as DV .mov files.
If they were planing to do any heavy compositing before hand, being in a 4:2:2 format might help but otherwise not really.

    Hi Craig,

I did try your recommendation plus and 8 bit uncompressed, the files were only 3GB. I’ll let them see if they can see the difference.

    Thanks,
    Jim
