  SD 4/3 letterbox to Sd 16/9 dvd

  Hi I’m trying to figure out what is the best way of doing this odd conversion (SD 4/3 letterbox to Sd 16/9 dvd), I’m doing this because my client wants to have his footage displayed without letterbox and without stretching on new Lcd Tv’s, but wants to have the maximum quality possible?

  Any good tip for compressor? what should be the workflow?

  Do you have access to the master file, the one that hopefully doesn’t have letterboxing?

  Yes but master file is letterbox!

  What are the specs on this master file, particular codec/format?

  I’m thinking one encode (using ProRes) to perform the crop and another to perform the MPEG-2 compression. I guess you may be able to both at the same time. Give it a few test encodes with short snippets of video.
