  MP2 on YouTube

  YouTube says that it accepts the MPEG2 format, and so I uploaded an MPEG2 video file of my movie and indeed it looked great, much better than MPEG4 or H264. However, there was no audio, as the mp2 video file is independent of the audio file. I then found no way to swap the audio in.

  Does anyone have a solution to this? Can I upload the audio file by itself and then combine the two?

  No, you need to have them muxed before upload.

  Thanks…can you recommend a good muxer, to mux an m2v file and aiff file, on a mac?

  I tried ffmpegX and it muxed a few seconds of the clip but then “failed”

  I also tried going through DVD Studio Pro, and using the VOB file to make an mpg file, but to no avail.

  Problem Solved.

  I downloaded MPEG Streamclip for Mac OS here: https://www.squared5.com/

  Had to make sure the m2v and aiff files have the exact same name, then opened the MPEG Streamclip app and just opened the m2v file…it brings in the aiff file with it automatically. Then chose File/Convert to MPEG with MP2 audio

  Exactly the application I was going to suggest.

  In future, make your MPEG files as program streams if you are going to upload them to Youtube

  If you’re on Windows, TMPGEnc 2.5 is a freeware MPG encoding tool that has a muxer app built in that’s also very good. It can demux, mux, join, and split files and works really great.
