best encoder workflow???
I have read hundreds of posts.
I have conducted dozens of tests with compressor & squeeze & procoder. haven’t tried episode or adobe’s compressor (not sure of name)Mac verses PC.
We are ramping our company up to be able to process 50hrs of media in 8 file types per month, (flv & wmv)
the tested systems all have issues. stalling, files not completed. failures.
is this just the nature of the beast of compressing?
just finished a job in compressor and I am trying to restart the Mac.
spinning wheel has been going for the past 5 min now.
this is consistent after any long (12hr) job. I have to hold the power button down to quit.
Normally it shuts down in secondsI need speed & reliability.
cost is not the primary issue.
I need the work done quickly & reliability.
I need some time tested pros to voice some opinions.

For a Mac based solution look at Episode Engine from Telestream
For a PC based solution looks at Carbon Server from Rhozet
Both products will allow you to easily scale up as you output more content.
Both are fault tolerant,
Both offer gridding of transcodes, (jobs are split over boxes/processors/processor cores)
Both produce high quality output.
Both are very reliable.
Both are very flexible in what they offer.
Both get faster the more you throw at them (up to to a defined limit, of course)__________________________________________________________________

i agree with daniel. episode engine for a mac and carbon server for pc, they’re costly but they work. personally i’d go with episode engine out of the two, but that’s just because i prefer macs. out of interest what format is the source media?
