encoding for Blackberry Pearl
Posted by Scott Davis on July 17, 2008 at 12:55 pmDoes anyone have a recipe for encoding movie files for the Blackberry Pearl? Dimension, codec, bit rate, etc?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

July 18, 2008 at 2:25 pmThe following Video formats are supported:
* MPEG-4 Part 2 – Simple Profile + bvops (including DivX files in this format)
* H.263 Profile 0 and Profile 3The following Video file extensions are also supported:
* .avi containing MPEG4 Part 2 and H.263
* .mov containing MPEG4 Part 2 and H.263
* .3gp containing MPEG4 Part 2 and H.263
* .mp4 containing MPEG4 Part 2 and H.263
* .m4v containing MPEG4 Part 2 and H.263
* .mpg containing MPEG4 Part 2 and H.263MPEG-4 is obviously better than H.263
According to Blackberry themselves these are the transcode settings:
Video format: MPEG-4
Video file extension: .AVI
Resolution (4:3): 240×180
Resolution (16:9): 240×135
Video bitrate: 400 kbps
Frames per second: 24
Audio format: MP3
Audio bitrate: 128 kbps
Sample rate: 44 khz
Channels: 2 (Stereo)
I’d suggest you can at increase the bitrate and frame rate if needed.
