  Burst of multiple 3D layers – new Blackberry adverts

  Hi everyone,

  I need to create a look similar to that seen in the new Blackberry adverts (see link at bottom). The TVC shows a bunch of video/still images bursting out from a single point and then swirling around randomly before getting sucked back to where they came from. Does anyone know how I might achieve this look in AE?

  My first thought was to stitch a bunch of still images into a movie file at 1 frame per image. Then I’d use this movie as a particle layer for Particular, set to emit random still frames. The only problem with this is that the emitted particles are always facing the camera, so I can’t get them to tumble end over end or anything.

  Short of animating each still frame individually, I’m all out of ideas. Can anybody help?

  Foam will do this with a movie as the source.
  Particle World will do this with a source layer that is your stitched images. You move the source point around the source layer and that pushes whatever is under the source point out the emitter.

  Unfortunately, these advanced capabilities are not apparent nor are they adequately explained in the documentation that comes with AE. you need a few dozen AE training resources at your disposal.

  Try hitting the Cycore site to see if there’s anything helpful on Particle World.

  Thanks David, that’s great. Particle World seems to do the trick. It needs a bit of fiddling but I think I’l be able to get the look I’m after.
