  Horizontal Lines, how to get rid of them.

  Hello,

  This is my first post on creative cow, hope it is in the right section.

  Whenever I compress my videos to play on the web they turn out incredibly blocky and contain noticeable horizontal lines, what step(s) am I missing.

  The footage was shot on a Sony PD-150 and I am using FCP-5.

  Sorry William but your post is very vague.

  What settings and methods have you tried to compress your video?

  Sorry,

  “quicktime movie…..set to animation. full frame rate. millions of colours.” These are the settings my friend asked for who will be encoding it to a flash player, the higher quality the better. The footage is NTSC from mini DV.

  Still pretty vague, you’re missing frame size, data rate or quality level etc..

  My first thought is that these are in fact fields of video, to get rid of them you or your friend will need to deinterlace.
  Can you describe the horizontal lines?

  Do the lines look like ‘combing’, as seen here:
