Audio file import with itunes installed
I am trying import audio from a CD into AE6.0. My problem is itunes is hijacking the file format extension. Instead of getting a .wav or .aif I get a .cda. And, I can’t even copy the track to my hard drive then change the extension. The file on my harddrive reads track1.cda and is only 44k. I don’t mind copy protecting songs I buy from itunes but why are all audio tracks changed to .cda?

Can’t you use iTunes to convert the imported track to MP3, then use QT to export the MP3 to AIFF or WAV?

There is no export or save as function in itunes. Only option is to convert to AAC which is itunes compression format.

Ah – you must be on Windows, because the option is there on OSX.
There was a Windows app that came with CDCreator called “Soundstream” that allowed you to convert CDA to MP3. There should be shareware around that does it as well. I’d Google “CDA to MP3”.

on Mac os X , in the preferences window, you can choose what file-format to use when importing files (mp3, aac, wav, aiff).
If you set this to aiff, the menu-option wil have changed to “convert to aiff”
Maybe it’s the same on Win ?
