I have a movie – 1:45 (an hour 45 min), and when I do a two pass VBR crunch via Compressor – it takes about 36 hours to work it’s magic. This is with a G5 2 x 2.5ghz and 2 gigs of RAM.

I’m using a AJA KONA Vuy codec (originally they were Cinewave YUV files).

Is a day a half too long?

I have another G5 – a 2x 2ghz – if I connect these via Qmaster – anyone know approximately how much improvement I would see?

    Thanks,

    Dale

The big problem with QMaster is that your VBR gets worse the more nodes you have, since it does each VBR on each node independently.
