too much saturation after compression
hi:
after having bad results with compressor 1 (artifacts, low quality etc) i decided to compress the movie on a pc using procoder2 or sorenson squeeze. the problem is now that after compressing the movie i get a very saturated image. it doesnt look so much like the original.
i could bypass this adjusting setting in procoder but i dont want to try to match more or less.i want it to be exactly as it is.

For the best color transference converting between one format and the other, Compression Master 3 is the way to go. You didn’t say what format you are converting from and to what codec you want to go to, as some codecs naturally produce a more saturated image, but in general, CM3 has the best preprocessing to compensate color issues.

I agree Compression Master does well in this area, but normally so does ProCoder. What are your source and output codecs?

Ben, I normally agree, but I have had some issues lately with v210 10bit AVI files and ProCoder. CM wasn’t perfect either, but it was closer to the source.

Another thing that’s currently driving me crazy is that QuickTime 7 doesn’t decode Motion-JPEG with the correct RGB colors, so RGB encoding tools yield too dim video.

The most annoyong thing for me is the BlackMagic codec under Windows for HD. If you don’t have the QT Info window on top of your video, or at least 15% of your video off the screen, then the gamma and luminence is all shot to hell.

i am trying compression master but when i import my self contained .mov file to convert it to mpeg 2 it says:
error file format not supported.what does it support if it doesnt .mov?

We do support .mov files but it might contain some 3rd party codec which we can’t handle perhaps?
