  • Why is there a dark area on 2 overlapping spheres in my Octane Live viewer?

    In a new project, I created 2 slightly overlapping spheres. The left one has default Octane diffuse material. The right one has default Octane specular material.

    In the render, the overlapping portions are black as seen through the right transparent specular sphere.

    Does anybody know what’s happening?

    UPDATE: I figured it out… I had to change the Octane Live Viewer from “Directlighting” to “Pathtracing”.

    don’t have Octane but something looking like that in renderers is usually the transparency depth being too low. It’s called different things in different renders but it is always there somewhere (assuming that really is the problem)…
