I am making the hellraiser puzzle box as a learning experience for C4D, I have gotten to the part where I am making the outside pattern , as you can see its got depth to it. I was making the pattern by splining the outside shapes of the pattern ( top face has 16 shapes around a circle, ) then extruding it to make the rectangular shapes that are around the circle, to cut the holes in these shapes I was using cylinders and splines and the boole tool, it works and looks good but it makes C4d so slow ( i have a powerful omputer so its not that) -I feel like I am not approaching this in the right way, what would be a better way of doing this?
Any help hugely appreciated , thanks

that looks like a spline of the top shape(s) extruded would be a better choice than booles
