    Hi!

I am new to Cinema 4D. I brought in a model of a human heart. I need to “deflate” half of the heart (to show an unusual heart condition). I am running into two problems:

    1. I am sculpting the model using the inverse “inflate” tool. I have “connect objects + delete” so as to sculpt all the elements simultaneously. But when I deflate the heart, the veins (which were originally a separate object), don’t morph and stay connected to the heart skin which is deflating. The veins just stay in the same place, creating a kind of “shell” which is not what I’m looking for (image attached). I want the veins to stay attached to the heart as it deflates (instead of staying rigid). Is there a way to do this?

    2. As I deflate, there seems to be an issue with the polygons, because part of my model disconnects from itself and creates a “whole” in the geometry. It looks a lot like a clipping issue, but I have tried changing “view clipping” in the project settings from Medium to all the other choicses, and nothing makes the skin re-appear. Any ideas what’s going wrong?

    Thanks!

    -Max

I have no idea what’s going excepting it’s not clipping as there are objects behind and in front of the disappearing polys and clipping should remove those too..

Thanks for getting back to me Brian! So it sounds like it’s just a problem with the model then?

Do you know how to resolve my “Question 1” about attaching the veins to the heart so as I deflate, the whole thing deflates together?

the inflate tool will inflate using the surrounding polys and since the veins are closed tubes those should deflate around their core while the heart deflates around it’s core, that’s true for all the sculpt tools (though I’m not sure there isn’t a way around that). For what you want the Magnet tool or the Move tool with a Soft Selection on would do what you want (but are a little harder to control)
