  • External composition tag’s layer is inverted in After Effects

I am using External compositing tag to transfer Position, rotation properties of a layer into AE. When I apply a texture to this object in Cinema, it is correctly orientated.

If I use External compositing tag layer in AE (I actually copy keyframes from the imported layer and paste it to the image I want), the image is inverted so I need to adjust y-scale. Why is that and how can I fix it?

The position and rotation is correct, only the y scale needs to be multiplied by -1. Can this step be eliminated in Cinema or is this an after effects issue. I’ve got a feeling that this has something to do with how axis are orientated in Cinema and AE.

I’m not sure who the culprit is but there is no “United Nations of Y is up” kind of thing. Plexus is like this too, one of the first things you do is invert the Y.
At least its as easy as a negative sign, packages like formZ consider Z up.
It also has to do with the fact that AE has it’s origin at top left so when you increase the y value you travel down the composition window not up as positive values do in cinema.

Thanks for help! For those who will face similar issues. Go to Tools->Modes->Enable Axis and hit R to rotate it.
