  • Texture scaling difference between workspace and render

Posted by Tom Gregory on May 5, 2017 at 5:14 pm

Hello… I’ve searched around for this and haven’t been able to find a conclusive answer – I’m finding it impossible to change the scale of textures applied to objects, which appear to scale in the ‘preview’ workspace but do not change once rendered.

A bit of background about how I make my models first; my workflow is generally modelling in Sketchup and exporting OBJs to transfer geometry to C4D. I thought initially it might have been to do with how the geometry was scaled in the conversion to OBJ, but I’ve tried different settings and manually scaling the mesh materials, to no avail.

If I use the UVW mapping projection for the texture, I can alter the Tiles U/V to change the scale of the texture. This changes in the model preview (see images attached), but does not affect the rendered object. Even changing the projection mode (to cubic for example), I run into the same issues with the preview appearing to scale, but the render only coming out at the original size.

I’ve tried changing almost every setting I know about, to no avail. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks!
    Tom

Hello, did you find the solution to this issue? I’m currently facing the same problem.
