  • Applying “Random” effector to multiple MoText objects

    Hi all,

I am trying to create a title intro with 3D text that appears on screen from behind the camera, using the “Random” effector on a MoText object in order to give random rotation to each letter of the word in the title.

However, I am having trouble because I have two MoText objects and I want them to have exactly the same movement, so I apply the same effector to both of them, and it almost does what I want, but some letters of one MoText have a small offset that bothers me because it overlaps with the other MoText. Here you have a picture of what I am trying to explain:

I tried grouping both MoText objects and then applying the Random effector, but then it does nothing. Is there a way of correcting this so that the text is consistent throughout all the animation?

Thanks in advance for your help!
    Héctor

Instead of using two motext objects I would use one and set the start cap to “fillet cap” and the fillet type to “1 step.” Put a blue material on the motext and then put a white material on it restricted to “C1”.

That’s actually a great solution. It almost solved it, but now it looks like this:

    So I have two questions:
#1. How can I make all of the inner letter to be white, so that it looks like the white is a solid letter inside a blue border?
#2. How can I control how much the white letter is sticking out of the blue borders? (#2 on the image)

    Thank you!

It gets a little trickier if you’re not happy with the default look. You’d have to make the motext editable, make the resulting extrude objects editable, and then connect them into a single object. Then you can manually adjust the extrusion and the polygon selection for the white material.

If you go that way you can put the resulting object inside of a mograph fracture object (set to explode and connect) and apply the random effector to the fracture.
