I am building a cobblestone driveway mockup. I made a pattern of six cobblestones then linear-cloned them with an X offset to make a long line. Then I cloned THAT clone and linear-cloned them in Y to make a solid ‘field’ of cobblestones. Now I need my curved driveway shape to “mask” the field so that the cobblestones appear only on the driveway.

When I try spline-masking or boolean operations on the final clone, nothing works. Apparently booleans will not work on clones of clones. Is that correct?

Any ideas how I might accomplish what I need to do? Thanks.

Unless I am misunderstanding your question, I don’t have a problem using a boole with clones of clones. Here I have used a boole (A intersect B) to create a path of flattened cubes made up of clones of clones intersecting with a capsule that has a bend deformer applied. Perhaps you could post your project file so that we could take a look at it.

Thanks! I see it is in fact working for you. Here is a stripped-down version of what I’m trying to do.

And now, for some reason it’s working. Ugh. Thank you for letting me know it *should* work – I’m not sure what I did differently but now I’ve got it going. I appreciate it.
