    Hi friends,
This is very simple file where I am using my emitter and want emitted particles to follow a spline path. For this I tried to follow a tutorial which used spline rail modifier but they also used emitter geometry. Whereas in my case I do not want to use any geometry as I intend to use these particle as source of my TFD fire and smoke. All I want my emitter particles is to follow this path.

Please see my attached scene file and suggest what mistake I have made which is preventing the emitter particles to follow the spline path. Before doing this, I also thought of using align to spline tag but I believe that would not be workable as I do not want to move my emitter along the spline, instead it’s only those emitted particles that that should follow this spline path.

    Thanks
    Syed

Look in the Content Browser > Studio > Presets > Thinking Particles Presets > Examples > Interaction > tp_follow_spline.c4d. It demonstrates the use of the TP Follow Spline preset that can be found in the Thinking Particles Presets > Setups > Interaction folder.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for your tip but I would also like to know what I am doing wrong with this spline rail + cloner and matrix setup in my C4D file. Only if you could spare a few minutes and help me identify the issue I had in my setup, that would also be much appreciated.

    Thanks again for your support.

    Kind regards
    Syed

    Hi Jim,
I used the suggested preset and created a spline and particle group as required parameters/objects for the said preset but I cannot see any particles (ticks that we normally see in initial TP setup) in my scene.

Is there anything else I should have done in the attached scene.

TP Follow Spline doesn’t produce any particles itself, it affects particles generated in the scene by emitters – either all of them (if no group is specified) or just the particles in a group if a group is specified.

    Syed,

As Brian commented, TP Follow Spline only affects particles, so the first thing I noticed is that you have no emitter in your example project. I don’t want to give you the impression that I am an expert with TP, because I rarely used it before and have since switched to X-Particles for its much greater capabilities. I can only suggest that you take apart the example from the Content Browser and swap out your own splines, etc., until you understand how it works.

Hopefully some TP experts will chime in.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Brian and Jim.
Being an absolute beginner in TP, I was under the impression that all I was supposed to do was to link a spline and a particle group. It was my bad!
Anyways, I hope I will now head into right direction.
I tried to find a tutorial which could guide on the proper use of these TP presets without luck. So, if you come across any such material, please share.
