I have a 3d model of fetus and I am trying to apply vein texture as an overlay to the default skin color texture. The vein texture I have used is a PNG file in below screen shot that I have used an overlay layer inside C4d layered texture.

There are a few things that I would like to further enhance the texture and make it more realistic:

    a) somehow the veins need to be slightly thinner around knees and belly. Tried to control it using transform scale effect but at a scaling of 0.1, I got the desired thickness of veins but with so many undesirable repetitions, it was like a tiled wallpaper.

    b) Is there any way I could control the opacity of veins around face, like it’s OK for the skull and legs to show these veins but it does not look good over baby’s face.

    Here is my file: 10953_fetuscow.c4d.zip

For the kind of control and detail that I think you would want for this I would use BodyPaint 3D. That way you could paint veins of the appropriate size, color, etc. over all areas of the fetus that you wanted them, while leaving other areas alone.

Hi Jim many thanks for your advice. I have very basic know-how of body paint but to achieve my target I will dig a bit deeper. It will be of great worth for sure.
    Thanks again.
