The main shape, just the outer shell. The inner part seems simple, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how he got those awesome curves on the connecting pieces. Any ideas?

That’s probably made with some kind of skinning function. The Cinema equivalent is the metaball object. For something like this I would create a platonic primitive, make it editable, select all the edges, and run the Mesh>Commands>Edge To Spline function. Then drop the resulting spline in a metaball object and play with the metaball settings to get the shape you want.

I get pretty good results with x-particles skinner

Yeah, a lot more versatile than the built-in metaball object.

Just tried with the metaball object and got a reasonable facsimile of it. I’ll throw it into XP when i get home. I knew there had to be a simple solution for this, thanks!
