    Hey,

I am looking to create the effect of blood spray close to the one from the film Zodiac here at about 50sec in
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT491ctM8Kk
. I know they used their own 3d fluid simulation software but i was curious if anyone here knows of a way to do this in after effects. i tried using mr mercury, which came close but the effect doesn’t seem to have an inherit velocity option. i also tried different particle generators (i.e. particular) but i couldn’t get a liquid look. i would like to do this in after effects but this is not to say that i wouldn’t use a 3d app. i just dont know anything about them. please any knowledge would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can’t really do a good version of that just in AE. You need something else. Be it a fluid simulator or an effect. I would suggest the Action Movie Essentials from Video Copilot.net. They have some good blood spatters on there that you can try.
