  Cut a hole in a cylinder

  I am creating a tripod speaker stand and I have all the pieces below the (belt) middle screw. So in the main cylinder I duplicate my object and decrease the size slightly so it Looks like it fit’s inside the bottom cylinder. Now I want to add pin holes up the top cylinder. The tripod works by pulling a pin and sliding the top tube up and putting the pin back in….but how can I cut a hole inside the cylinder to make this effect?

  I figured everything out except putting the hole in the cylinder.
