    Hello,

I’m hoping there’s a way to insert layer names (or any other variables) in the filename of a C4D render, like you can in Maya (just add to the filename in Maya). I have a bunch of layers I need to output (separately) and hope I can get C4D to name the files automatically, rather than me having to name each one. But I can’t find anything like this in the “help” or online, so I’m not too hopeful.

    Any thoughts, anyone?

    Many thanks,

    Paul

The multi-pass save options give you the option to automatically append the pass name to the end of the rendered sequence. Otherwise there isn’t much control built in. You can’t have custom names for separate layers (aside from the above) and you can’t actually name your object buffers.

This plugin seems to resolve those issues and also provide some nice options for organizing output: https://www.rendertom.com/plugins/renomi/

Thanks – I’ll take a look at that plugin.
