Converting from .c4d to .3ds or .obj
Posted by Stewart Campbell on July 9, 2013 at 11:24 amHi – is there a way of converting .c4d files to MAX without owning Cinema 4D? Many thanks for any help!

July 9, 2013 at 12:22 pmYou can export from Cinema to a variety of formats that Max can read, including fbx, 3ds, obj, collada, and possibly others.

July 9, 2013 at 12:44 pmHi Adam – thanks for your post. The problem is I don’t own or have access to Cinema 4D. A client sent me a file, thinking it would import into Max, but .c4d files don’t.
Looking for a work-around 🙂

July 9, 2013 at 1:02 pmWell, without you seeing the file, you may have some limitations. Materials, cameras and so on. c4d has a lot of features that without baking, you won’t pass them on with any conversion.
