shoe laces

i am modeling a shoe
have a really hard time with the laces
im looking for some advice

July 1, 2013 at 3:48 amI would draw splines for the laces and then use sweep nurbs.

July 1, 2013 at 6:04 pmThe one time I had to do a shoe, I used a tiled “shoelace” texture and it sold it pretty well. This should work whether you use splines/sweeps or model the laces. I modeled them so I could play around with the points.

Drawing splines up through the laces and sweeping them
or
I’ve extruded polygons all the way up for laces for.Either way has worked for me, to sell it create a tiled shoe lace texture.
