  • Add a weapon to a character model that’s boned

So I took a single character mesh, rigged it, and I am about to animate it. This is going to be a character for a game, so I would like to be able to add a weapon to his hand – and have it swapped out with other weapons as well.

So how can I get a weapon in his right hand and get it to move correctly based on the movement of his hand?

The answer you have is probably to make it a child of the hand bone but I have a couple of issues with that

    1. when i export to shockwave 3d (yes i have to use an old version of cinema 4d because the shockwave exporter has been discontinued) the child of the bone is lost

    2. even *if* i could export the bone child to shockwave 3d, it doesnt seem to animate properly. it moves but it seems to move too far, which is odd.

So is there another solution that doesnt require me to go in every single frame and line up a weapon with the hand?
