  face selection problems on extruded polygons

  When I extrude polygons it disables the ability to face select the top or bottom of the object ie the actual shape. I need to be able to delete the bottom face of the object so i can add an image to the top and sides. does anyone know where im going wrong? picture attached..

  hard to tell from that screenshot it looks like the object has no thickness and hasn’t been extruded. Can you post the scene?
