I have a simple project in C4D 13 where I’m trying to make a bending straw with 1 simple joint chain. And I can’t figure out how to bind the joints to the mesh. I think I’ve done all the correct steps (weight tag with all joints referenced as well as a skin element attached to the straw object) but nothing seems to actually attach the joints to the object so it can deform. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

delete the skin object and the Weight Expression tag

    — optional—-
take the Root object (and the joints) out from under the straw so they are not children anymore
but it will work if you leave it alone – the joints can be anywhere
    —————-

Select all the joints (*not* the Root null) and the straw object and run the Character/Commands/Bind command, that should do it
