  • Batch Render with Global Settings?

Posted by Jerry Renes on August 7, 2008 at 8:05 am

    Hi Everyone,

Currently I am working on a big project with over 150 separate AE project files. (Don’t ask me why :D)

Every project file has one composition n it, which is named exactly the same in every project file. the dimensions of these comps are all 1920×1080 pixels.

The render queues are not set-up correctly and I hope there is a way to batch render all these files using just one type of global settings.

Couldn’t find anything problem solving yet so I thought I’d ask over at the Cow!

    Hope you can help me!

If I understand your problem correctly, there is a way you can do this. Open a new AE project. Then import all your other projects into that new project. Actually, seeing as you have 150 projects, that might be a stretch. Especially if they’re render heavy. But try it with 20 or so to begin with and see if you get a crash.

Drag one of the comps into the render queue panel and set the output location to where you want your file to be save. Then select all the comps in the project panel and drag them into the render queue panel – they should all now automatically share the output location of the first listed item. Set the output module to your preferred codec, hit render, and go for a long walk!

    Thanks!

At first I thought adding all the files to one project file would’t work, that was the reason why I used separate files in the first place, the projects became just to heavy, having loaded all the HD footage.

Did some testing and it works. Thanks!
