  • How to drive cloner “clone count” via expresso?

Hello you lovely Cinema 4D gurus (I hope flattery works…:))

I would really like to be able to control the number of clones in my cloner object depending on the volume of some music I have imported. I am familiar with driving the scale of an object using the sound effector but is there a way to use expresso to link sound volume with clone count? Is this possible? Even just driving it randomly would be cool (ignoring the music and just putting randomly cycling numbers – between say 1 and 10) would be fantastic. In fact the “controlled” randomness might be a better choice….

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

It can be done with just a little bit of Xpresso:

Thanks so much for the post Adam,

I will try to set that expresso routine up myself…

    Thanks again,

    Hi Adam,

You are a star! I am a complete newbie when it comes to Expresso – but thanks to seeing your layout that you kindly posted I have cracked it! Now I have a “graphic equaliser” effect made from clones reacting to audio. No way I would have worked that out by myself so thanks once more for taking the time – I really appreciate it.

    kind regards,

    Owain
