  Using glow within an object

  I’m having difficulty getting the inner part of this make shift fruit to glow. Without the outer skin glows just fine when the skin is on all you can see is the basic color. The outer skin is transparent. I want it to look think and viscus, just don’t know how to pull this off.

  Any suggestions or ideas?
