    Hi there creative gurus,

i was wondering if someone could help me with a problem i have concerning animating some stripes in cinema 4d, i have a link to a video here which shows pretty clear what i’m trying to achieve but i can’t figure out exactly how to do so…

the idea is to have a few stripes animating towards the camera like in this video:

    video on vimeo: https://vimeo.com/13563168

i’ve tried using deformers and several mograph settings but all i get is some twisted or bend shapes, nothing that i can animate in this style,

i hope someone can point me to a tutorial or in the right direction,
    big thanks in adavnce,
    cheers,
    Jan

    Hello,

here is a nice tutorial about the text building up exactly the way it looks in the video.
I think the Gorilla did some more tutorials about stripes, check out his page.

    Hi Andre,

    thanks for your reply,

but I’m not looking for a way to replicate the text, but instead for a way to replicate the stripes that you see in the video, the ones in the beginning of the video, when the ground starts bending and the single stripes come to live and start bending and waving around,

if you happen to know a tut or technique for that I’d be grateful 🙂

    cheers,
    Jan

If the geometry is already static you might want to use an FFD deformer, if you are planning still I would make the ribbons by Sweeping a rectangle spline along another spline with a Sweep Nurb. You just need to animate the spline to get the movement and you can use the Sweep Nurb ‘Growth’ values to get the growth.

    Hi Brian,

    thanks for your reply,

and yes the stripes are already modeled but I will give both of your tips a try and let you know later what the outcomes are,

    cheers,
