I’ve been noticing for some time now (since R11, or maybe even R10) that when I render something in an editor window (as opposed to the Picture Viewer) and then, when I click on anything to redraw the screen to continue working, that the screen of Cinema 4D becomes fractured into horizontal lines, about a quarter of an inch high that are little repeated bits of the screen. I’ve put up a screen shot. Is this normal Cinema behavior, or a bug, or does it indicate a problem with my graphics card (RadeonX1900)? I’m running R 12 on Mac OS 10.6.5. My colleague here also has this happen, and I believe he’s running the same set up.

    thanks, Jack

I never saw any of this on the Mac in 10 or the 11.x demos but I did in the 10 and 11.x demos on the PCs at work. The 12 demo and now 12 show this kind of redraw ‘error’ which clears up right away. The Mac at work and at home have ATI cards so it’s not nVidia only, it’s a 12 thing but not fatal just odd (I think)

I’ve never had that screen redraw issue in any Cinema/PC version, on ATI or Radeon cards. My guess is that it’s a graphics driver problem.

    Thanks Adam and Bryan,

The screenshot I posted shows a mild version of this. Sometimes the whole screen goes that way, and it will last 1 to 2 seconds before snapping back to normal. But it doesn’t seem to affect anything really. So I guess I won’t worry too much about it. Kind of disconcerting, though.
