Disabling a tag
Posted by Ben Rollason on October 24, 2010 at 12:39 pmHi All,
This is a pretty basic question… Is there a way to disable a tag without removing it from an object?
I need to disable all my visibility tags for a multi-pass render. At the moment, I’m just moving them onto a dummy layer temporarily, but it would be nice if there was a disable feature, that I’ve failed to notice.
Thanks if you can help.
Ben.

In the attributes manager (bottom right) in the basic tab there is a check box that says “enabled” uncheck it.
You can actually animate this too.

Strange that texture tags don’t have them though. Although I guess you can override a tag with something else.

I have not seen a good way for doing this yet. There are a couple plug Ins that turn textures on and off.
I just save my project to a new name and delete the textures.Yea you can select all the tags you want and on / off Its easyer to set up a boole option in a user data for that type of thing I find.

January 12, 2011 at 7:41 pmWas just having this problem, and thought I’d chime in. Quite awhile back, the GHOST TAG used to be a part of the JENNA plugin pack, the forerunner of mograph. I used it constantly. I sure wish someone would build a simple on/off switch for tex tags, sometimes they I’ve painstakingly applied several to different objects, and putting the on dummies or otherwise moving them is just not practical. One thing you can do though, is type some garbage into the selection field. This is a quick and simple way, at least for when a selection is not already applied to that tag. And for godsakes, don’t forget you used this method or you’ll be pulling your hair out trying to figure out where the tex is when you want it back!
