Has anyone had this problem when AE won’t dump cache properly and when you purge it still says “cannot buffer 3200×1600” or whatever?

I have to reboot AE everytime this happens to empty the cache properly…when you add it up throughout a day that’s quite a few minutes wasted!

    Any thoughts?

    hey jimmy,

are you still using ae7 on a mac pro???

i had a lot of memory related problems with ae7 on a 4-core mac pro. problems that seemed like memory leaks, failures to clear the ram cache and frequent image buffer errors. often, i found rebooting was the only way to clear what seemed like memory leaks (it may have been leaks due to ae7 or rosetta, i’m not sure).

this may not help you much right now, but the best ‘cure’ was upgrading to cs3… i hardly have memory issues now and i can’t remember the last image buffer error message… and i still occasionally run cs3 under rosetta to get use of older ‘powerpc only’ effects i used in some older projects.

Thanks Kevin, yup still on 7! Once this big project of ours gets finished I am pushing for CS3/plugin and RAM upgrades all round….can’t come soon enough.

Keep forgetting AE7 still runs under Rosetta – CS3 must be a tonne faster just for that surely!?
