This is probably easy, but I haven’t been able to find any info: I have a spline with extrude nurbs placed in 3d space. I would like to make it reveal from left to right. The problem is I can’t just use a mask to reveal it in After Effects because it folds back and forth over itself like a ribbon. Is there an easy way to do this?

I’ve had success with using a material with an alpha channel. You can set the alpha channel to gradient and then keyframe that. The Cow Team may have a better method.

If you can achieve the same look using a sweep nurbs instead of extrude, you can animate the start and end growth values to create a reveal look.

The alpha channel worked great. Now the client wants to give the spline a 3D look–right now it’s only 2D with the spline and extrude nurbs. Is there an easy way to add a slight z-dimension to it?
