  • Step interpolation with PLA?

Posted by Jack Cook on August 11, 2010 at 7:05 pm

I’m animating something using PLA and I want to use step interpolation so that the points will snap from one keyframe to the next, but in the Timeline, when I click on the F-curve editor there are no keyframes. They show up in the normal timeline view, but if I select them and choose Step from the Keys menu there is no difference from Linear; the points don’t snap, they keep on moving. I’m doing this by moving points at one end of a long cube to reveal the A part of the boolean. I have to move and rotate the points to line up with certain joints in the A part, and I’d like them to snap, rather than move continuously. Is there a way to do this with PLA?

I’m using version 11 on Mac OS 10.5.8.

    Thank you,

    Jack

Assign a time track to the PLA and add step keys to the time track. Hint: start from the last frame and work your way back.

Thank you, Adam, that worked fine. I added the keys starting with the last frame and worked back, as you suggested, but what’s the reason for doing it that way instead of from the first key?

Uh, I think that was user error on my part. I guess you can go forwards, too. 😉

OK. Well, it works in reverse just fine!
