  • Scaling along a spline, over time, with MoGraph

    I’m using C4D 11 on OS X.

I have an arrow in a Cloner Object, inside a null, with a Spline Effector. The arrows travel along a spline, which is an open spline. I’ve got it working perfectly so the arrows keep moving along the spline continuously, and that’s fine. But what I need for them to do is to start out at the beginning of the spline large, and when they get to the end of the spline they are small, with gradations of size in between. So, in other words, they need to scale as the go along the spline. Each arrow needs to scale down as they move. I can get them to scale along the spline in the beginning, but each arrow then keeps its size as it moves, which is not what I want. Every arrow should start large, and end small. How can I get them to scale in this way?

    thanks,
    Jack

I think a simple plain effector with a linear falloff should do the trick. Something like this perhaps..

I set a uniform scale to -.75 for this example.. The arrows start big and decrease insize as they pass through the effector. Of course you could use a different type of falloff if you need a more gradual change in size. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Jeremy. This seems to work. It’ll take a little tweaking to get it just right, but I think it’ll work.
