  • Is it possible to merge down brush strokes?

Posted by Daniel Haskett on May 15, 2005 at 12:01 pm

    Hi there

Basically I want to be able to merge down a few brush strokes into one large brush stroke so that I can then make this into a mask, but I dont know how, and Im not even sure if this is possible…..umm is it?!

    Thanks!

Is there an absolute need to ?

You can just keep the brushstrokes an a layer, and use that layer as a trackmatte.
There’s also the option of painting the alpha, so perhaps you don’t even need two layers.

Thing is when you convert a brush stroke to a mask, you get the center path of the stroke, not the shape defined by it’s width and brush-shape if you understand me.

You could try pre-composing the layers with the brush strokes and using the new comp as the mask
