Tennis ball hair/fur
could anyone advise me on tennis ball hair techniques to get a realistic feel to my modelled tennis ball here is an example I like the look of

I don’t see your sample pic.
The best way to do it, IMO, is with the Hair module. I’d use short, dense hair with a lot of frizz and kink. You could also use sub-polygon displacement, but it wouldn’t look as good.

here is the ball I was referring to I used the hair mod but I did get lots of gaps in the hair showing the surface is there a way to fill these gaps with out the obvious adding more hairs?

You can use a similar color on the underlying sphere to try and cover the gaps, but at the end of the day it’s just going to take a bunch of hairs to make it look right.
