  I’m trying to decide on whether or not I want to get Cinema 4D or TurboCAD Pro v5.

  What I need to accomplish:

  1. Create 3D objects to very specific dimensions (Auto’s upper and lower control arms with shock/spring)
  2. Animate suspensions motion with control arms and shocks and springs.

  TurboCAD Pro v5 ($500) seems to be limited in animation abilities (it can’t actually animate it’s objects). So it seems Cinema 4D is high on my list ($1000). So the question is, does Cinema 4D Core have enough of what I need to accomplish my tasks? Or do I need some of the extensions for Cinema 4D Core ($2500 – $3500)?

  Yes, For that type of animation you can get it done with core. You will need to learn a bit of expresso (node based controls). You would be better off with some constraint options, you can get this with MOCCA module or a cheaper and powerful option is this plug in set

  Thanks for the response. The Cactus3d plug-INS look interesting, but I’m not clear on which ones will meet my needs?

  You are looking for IK tools and constraints.
