RAM Preview wont preview whole comp. Help.
Posted by Matthew Helms on July 22, 2008 at 2:22 amI have searched but couldnt find anything that matched what is happening to me. My RAM Preview does not render my whole comp. It only previews about 20-100 frames depending on my project. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do. I hope this isnt a stupid question.

July 22, 2008 at 4:02 amIs there anyway to not run out of RAM?? I am using a IMac Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 Gigs of RAM. Is there some preference that I can change or empty my cache some how? I’m good stuff but I’m a loser at this.

July 22, 2008 at 5:18 amThe disk cache is not used for RAM previews. If disk caching is enabled, After Effects can store rendered items to your hard disk when the RAM cache is full during standard previews.

What I do when I need to check a longer comp in full res is I just check it in parts – set your work area to the part you want to see and it’ll render that for your RAM preview.. Annoying but effective..

If you want to preview your full comp, lower the quality to half or quarter resolution, lower the frame rate to less that 30 FPS, maybe 15, and allow to drop some frames. Try different setting until you can see the full preview. Hope it helps.
