  • Cinema 4D 11 files not opening in older versions

I have a file I built in Cinema 11 (64 bit) and I tried opening the file on another PC with Cinema 9 and a Mac running Cinema 8. In both cases I was told the file was not recognized. In the past files built in newer versions of Cinema have always opened in older versions. Has something changed with Cinema 11? Could it be that I built the file on a 64bit version?

C4D has not always been able to open files from newer versions – couldn’t improve the format if that was always true. Some versions have been compatible (v11 files can be opened in v10 – v8 could open v9 files but 8 and 9 can’t open 10 or 11 files). There is a complete list somewhere (Adam might know it I think)
