    hi

    i’ve used C4D on and off for 6 or so years, mainly for motion GFX and combination with aftereffects.
    I’ve never really had to do real dynamics before and now need to do
    a ‘domino’s falling’ sequence. i’ve been reading up online and many people say to use realflow to set up the animation.

    I’ve built the scene, exported and imported into realflow, applied basic gravity and can sort of see how it works. naming objects is fine but issues so far with grouping and exporting back to C4D etc…

    however, there’s alot to learn and a few days to deadline.
    can anyone advice me if this is the best way to go, or go down the C4D route and use its built in dynamics and thinking particles etc?

    any advice and or tutorials that might help in either method would be really appreciated.

    many thanks

    trev

    I know it can be done in RF if you have it already. Unfortunately I’m simply ignorant regarding the Dynamics module. I think it should be doable as long as there aren’t too many dominoes. If you are looking to add software for this I’d highly recommend Remo’s Silver Bullet and/or PhyRis plugins which make this kind of thing a breeze. I literally did this in five minutes using Silver Bullet: https://www.3danvil.com/tutorials/dominoes.mov

    hi adam;

    thanks very much for the reply,
    looks good to me, i think i’ll get those plug ins as it’ll probably be easier than trying to learn realflow in the time. which of the 2 plug-ins would you recommend for this project?

    any tutorials for the plug ins you would recommend?

    would be great to get that demo domino project you set up ; )
    just for reference etc…

    cheers

    I think either plugin would do the job, but Silver Bullet is the more recent one and the one that seems to be getting more attention from the developer lately. I don’t know of any tutorials, but the plugins come with a bunch of sample scenes that are pretty easy to dissect. Here’s the scene I did with it: https://www.3danvil.com/tutorials/Dominos_SB.c4d
