hmm, I made a post further below on trying to create an actual object rather than an instance from using the symmetry tool. Adam Trachtenberg suggested some handy methods, I tried using the MOCCA’s bone mirror tool to create the second arm and leg for a robot model. Unfortunately the mirrored object was just a mess, all the objects contained in the original were reflected, but some were rotated at strange angles while some remained unchanged.

Any ideas on how I can get the bone mirror to work with my arms/legs? I made sure it was reflecting on the correct plane. My robot arm and leg consists of quite a number of objects but I have grouped them all under a single null object, to which I applied the bone mirror to.

Help is appreciated, this is driving me up the wall.

    Thanks

Hmmm, that’s odd. Is there any way you can send me the file to look at? Address: adamt [at] 3danvil [dot] com.

sure that would be great thanks. I have already created the second arm and leg by using the first method you suggested, by exploding segments then deleting the original -well, for the arm I did, think I did the leg through my own tedious means.

anyways, I really appreciate your help. I’ll send that over to you. If you can’t get the bone mirror to work then it’s no biggie. I’ve already got the separate arms and legs but it would be nice knowing I can use the bone mirror in the future. Like you said, it mirrors anything. Just not the correct orientation in my case =p

    Cheers
