I’m having a problem trying to make light beams in water. I want to show beams coming down from an underwater perspective. I’m using a parallel spot with either visible or volumetric light, and I’ve tried using the Noise channel but it doesnt’ give me the effect I’m looking for. I’ve also tried using a gel, with only the Transparency channel turned on, and a noise or water texture in it. With the gel applied to the light I get absolutely no effect at all. The Noise channel in the light gives me a little bit of an effect, but not very much. What’s the best procedure to show beams underwater?

    I’m using Cinema 10.5 on a Mac

    thanks,
    Jack

Well, you might like and have a look at these two examples,
(it might not be what you’re looking for anyway…)
Very simple underwater scenery with some light-beams (course-of).
One can of course change Intensity and Noise for a different look.
    Using the Core-version (10.5) of Cinema 4D.

Placing the texture on the light should work if you’re using volumetric (not visible) light. You also have to adjust the projection of the material (use flat and scale to fit).

    Thanks, Adam,

I’ve got it working now. Flat projection did it. I’ve got beams now.

    thanks,
    Jack
